Once you have collected your Car Hire you will be ready to explore and discover the unique culture of Fuerteventura. Essentially this is Spanish with a little Latin American influence, however some aspects of the local culture can only be found in the islands.

Lucha Canaria is a type of wrestling – reminiscent of Sumo. It is a team sport, but individuals take turns to wrestle a member or the opposing team. The bout starts with the participants gripping each other’s shorts, the object being to push your opponent to the ground.

As is usual in Spain there is a Siesta period between one and four o’clock in the afternoon and it is at this time that the main meal of the day is eaten. A smaller meal is then consumed late in the evening, often after nine o’clock. For this reason a night out may not really start until midnight and Europeans are usually the only ones found in Discos or Disco Bars before 1am. If you are taking your Hire Car out in the evening remember that the whole of Spain has very strict drink / driving limits and the limit is currently lower than in the UK, please do not take any risks.
