Two of these Car Hire companies have office desks at Jerez Airport and the other Car Hire company will meet you in the arrivals hall. All Hire Cars will be available for collection directly at the Airport.

Jerez Airport is only 5 km north of the city of Jerez de la Frontera which is particularly famous for its’ production of Sherry. The white chalky soil that is prevalent in the area of Jerez and is know as Albariza is ideal for cultivating the Palamino grapes which produce the sherry.

Wine production in the area of Jerez can be traced back some 250 year to the arrival of the Gordons, a Scottish family who started a wine trade in nearby Cadiz. Subsequently several French families including Pemartin, Lustau and Delage established wine businesses in the area. Over the years the sherry families, despite their foreign origins, have developed into truly Spanish aristocracy. However, today some large multinational companies also exercise some control over the leading Jerez bodegas.

Many of the bodegas in Jerez can be visited by the public. An example of some of the most famous Jerez bodegas are Gonzalez Byass, Pedro Domecq and Sandeman.
