Valencia Airport is situated 9km west of the city of Valencia and has connections to about 15 European countries. The airport has had one terminal and two runways; however construction to be completed for the 2007 Americas Cup will see a new regional terminal, expanded parking facilities and the runway lengthened by 700m. For this reason you may find that you have to take a short shuttle bus ride to collect your Car Hire because some of the Car Hire offices have been relocated to one of the car parks. When you have collected your Hire Car you will be able to explore Valencia which is Spains third largest city and lies on the Mediterranean coast some 350km south of Barcelona. Madrid is a similar distance inland. It is, therefore, also fairly easy to visit other cities if you have a Car Hire. Gastronomically, the region is home to Paella, Spains most famous dish. Historically, it is believed that the Holy Grail resides in Valencias Cathedral and it was here that El Cid fought the Moors.

The climate in Valencia tends to be mild all year round and one of Spains greatest festivals, Las Fallas, takes place every March when revellers enjoy a week long party with fireworks and massive bonfires every night.
